How did this product make your life easier?

Callie: I didn’t have a vaginal birth so have instead repurposed this as a C-section spray. I haven’t developed any infection and am feeling well after only two weeks. The spray action on the bottle is easy, the packaging is very unmumsy and makes you feel very normal to purchase as it is not all Pink and flowery.

Stacey: We all know that lovely post-birth burn. The baby is in your arms but the burning sting still sits. The cuddles are great but sitting is uncomfortable. This spray is definitely a must-have to soothe and improve healing. An all-natural product and so many benefits! I suffered two extensive tears and had stitches and my midwife recommended all the products including this spray! I was healed within 3 weeks!

Fiona: It makes life easier for a new mum – definitely! The discomfort and pain after a vaginal delivery, stitches or not, can be such a disruption, physically and emotionally when you have a newborn to look after, and this product helps to give some relief for that. I wish I had had this after my episiotomy with my first child, but this time, with no tears, it still helped soothe bruising and general tenderness – including haemorrhoids.

Would you recommend this product to other parents?

Milly: I would recommend this because it has 97 per cent natural ingredients including essential oils and I would trust it because it is designed by midwives. All ingredients are carefully considered to provide relief and healing to the delicate perineal area. The ingredients have antibacterial, soothing and healing properties. Being able to use the spray upside down is of huge benefit as otherwise, it would be very awkward to use!

Tracy: It does help with earlier recovery and helps soothe postpartum perineal pain. It’s ready-made and easy to use, even one-handed and upside down. It feels very refreshing as well and it made the dreaded toilet trips soon after birth much more bearable. The only drawback is it seems to be at a slightly higher price point than I would expect, but on the whole, would still consider it worth it.

Stacey: I’ve already bought one for my friend who’s due in October. She heard of the healing and the pain I was in and became worried. I explained it was normal but the Spritz for Bits definitely helps a huge amount alongside warm baths! A definite need if you’re a first, second or subsequent mum/surrogate to be!

Would you choose this product above all others on the market?

Fiona: I have also used a similar product from another brand. The price point comes into play here as I purchased the cheaper option. The competitor’s product was also slightly smaller and more than enough quantity-wise and I am not a fan of waste and would not feel comfortable passing this on to a friend once already opened due to hygiene reasons.

Milly: I think I would probably buy a cheaper alternative as £19.50 is quite expensive, especially with everything else you need for the maternity period and a baby. There are similar products with almost the same ingredients but for a cheaper price such as ‘natural birthing company bottoms up soothing bottom spray’. However, I would definitely recommend it for the ability to spray upside down which greatly increases its ease of use.

Tracy: I have not heard of any other similar products on the market, but have heard of this product prior to being asked to review, which is a testament to the usefulness of the product and the marketing. As I have nothing to compare with I would choose this product again should I have another pregnancy/birth, and would recommend it to my friends/fellow mummies.

What changes would you make to this product?

Stacey: For mums on a budget as we all know maternity pay isn’t the best. Unless you have savings £20 for a spray is a little pricey in my eyes however, it is also worth every penny paid. Due to my budget, I was unable to buy one so was very lucky to receive this. I will definitely buy one for baby three in a couple of years time!

Fiona: The size. A smaller bottle would suffice for postnatal recovery for a few months, especially as you tend to use it less and less over time, eg spray in the morning and before bed as opposed to every toilet trip. This would help from an environmental perspective, in terms of reducing packaging waste but also it should reduce the price which would make this great product more accessible to more mums.

Milly: I think I would make the product cheaper as there are products that are pretty comparable on the market for a lower price with similar ingredients. I think it is unreasonable to expect a mum with so much else to buy for herself and the baby to pay £19.50 for it. It is also quite a lot to pay for a present to give to a new mum when you could buy a comparable product and something else for the same price as this on its own.
