CHERRIES have announced that highly-rated young goalkeeper Cameron Plain has signed a one-year extension with the club.
Plain, who joined Cherries in 2018 from Winchester City’s youth set-up, has previously played for Alan Connell’s under-18s and Shaun Cooper’s under-23 side.
Alongside his appearances at youth level, Plain has already had a taste of senior football thanks to loan spells with Ringwood Town, Bashley, and Wimborne Town.
Now 19, Plain has previously trained with England’s under-18 and under-19’s goalkeepers at the FA’s headquarters, St George’s Park.
Speaking of his delight at the new deal, Plain told Cherries’ website: “It’s always the same challenge with an extension, you always want to get the next one.
“Each year people always say that it’s a big year for you, but I feel like, especially in my eyes, this is probably one of the biggest years I’ve got.
“Especially with the one year, I feel like I’ve got something to prove, and I just want to go out there and do well.”
“I think the staff here are great, right down to the under-18s all the way up to the new members in the first team,” he explained.
“It always feels homely and it’s a club that you can just imagine staying at.
“Like Alan Connell says, he’s been here 20 years and it’s now his new home.
“You can definitely imagine something like that, I’ve just got the push on from here.”
