Bra Bootcamp: How to Take Care of Your Bra

Okay everyone, listen up! What if I were to tell you that you have been taking care of your bras wrong this ENTIRE TIME? Yep, you heard me right!

Recently, I got a job where I had to take a whole course on bras; the different types, how to measure bra size, and how to take care of them. Turns out, I have been doing it wrong this entire time, and I don’t think I am the only one. For the past few years, I have been so anti-bra simply because they were never comfy or I didn’t feel confident in one. Once I began working for a store whose main selling point was bras, I began to realize that finding and taking care of the right bra was the trick to feel comfortable and confident in one.  I hope some of these tips help you like they helped me!

First off, the average life expectancy of a bra is ONLY 6-9 months, which is absolutely crazy! One tip is that once you find a bra style that works best for you, invest in multiple so you can cycle through them. Bras wear down and tear overtime because of how much you wear them, so by cycling through your favorite bras, it allows them to last as long as possible.

DON’T put your bra in the dryer! Air dry by either laying it down on a flat surface or by hanging it up. When you wash your bra, make sure to connect the clasps in the back so they can’t hook on to any sweaters or any of your other clothes. If you can, investing in a delicates bag for the washer is a great option!

My final tip is to NEVER push the cups of your bras in on themselves! This can cause the fabric to crinkle, and it is just not good for the overall anatomy of the bra! The best way to store your bras are to lay them flat or, if you are feeling extra fancy, to hang them up!

Bras can be very expensive depending on where you decide to purchase them, so make sure to extra good care of them and they can last for a long time!
